★ Wishing my lovely boyfriend a very happy birthday...!!! ★

Today, August 31st, is Jaden's birthday!! And much like last year, I decided to make a special page to celebrate the occasion! I've been looking forward to his birthday pretty much since the beginning of August, and it just gave me something positive to be excited for during this whole month. ^^

Last year, I made a cake with a Winged Kuriboh design on it - which is pretty hard to top, right?? There's a convention coming up in just a few days, so I've been busy with other things, and I didn't think trying to get into a huge complicated baking situation would be a good idea... so, this year is a lot more hands-off, but I'm just as excited as I was last year!! This is the second birthday of his that I've gotten to celebrate!! <3
(i love him so much it's unreal )

To celebrate his birthday, I decided to finally watch the movie Bonds Beyond Time. For those who aren't too familiar with Yugioh, Jaden is the main character in Yugioh GX, which is the second series in the franchise. Bonds Beyond Time is a crossover movie for the first three series - the original, GX, and then 5D's. So it's Jaden meeting up with Yugi, the original protagonist, and Yusei, the protagonist from 5D's!! This movie also marks the last time that Jaden appears in the anime as a whole, since GX ended in 2008... so it's a little bit bittersweet. But I've been putting it off for long enough, and I really wanted to watch it for his birthday!!

It was a lot shorter than I expected... I thought it was a full length movie, but it was only like 45 minutes long. Was it absolutely amazing cinema? No, not at all, but Jaden was in it, and he was perfect and stunning in every way, so that's enough for me. It was really nice to see Yugi again too. I wish the three protags would have had more time to goof around and get to know each other, but they only had 20 minutes to set up the loose excuse for a plot, because the only duel in the movie takes up the other 20 minutes. Anyway, I'm glad I finally watched it!! Here are some random screenshots I took after watching and scrolling back through the video.

^ (I didn't expect him to be the first one to show up in the movie and say a cool line like this so I got embarrassed and had to pause like thirty seconds in lol,,,)

It was weird seeing Jaden in 1080p HD resolution because the art in GX is more blurry and compressed, haha. He looks really good!! This is his Season 4 redesign. BBT takes place sometime after the end of GX as a whole, because by the time the events of the movie happen, he's already traveling by himself along with Yubel, Pharaoh, and Daitokuji/Banner.

It was really nice to see him in action after the melancholy events of Season 4... I was always a bit worried that he would never get back to his old self again. But he's retained his love for dueling, his willingness to be near other people, and his optimism, which made me really happy. He's still got that charm and boundless energy he was introduced with, but it's been tempered with more maturity and a better understanding of how to think situations over without diving headfirst into them. I just really loved seeing him getting along with Yugi and Yusei (pleading emoji), which was this movie's biggest draw in the first place. Also when Jaden's theme started playing during the duel,,, oh man that got me big time T__T

Moving on from Bonds Beyond Time....... I really debated posting this next bit. But it's so atrocious and hilarious that I would feel bad keeping it all to myself. I wanted to find a cute birthday-themed song to put on this page, but I couldn't think of anything, so I ended up just blindly looking up songs with 'birthday' in the title. And in doing so, I stumbled upon a song called 'It's Ya Birthday' by Fly Boi Keno. And this is some of the funniest shit I have ever heard in my life I swear to god. So if you'd like to experience this song for yourself, you can either click that link or listen below (probably going to be loud, so warning for that). I think if I played this for him he would also think it's really funny.

I'm not sure that I have much more to say for Jaden's birthday, honestly, which is surprising because I've been looking forward to it all month!! I drew those two pictures at the top of the page, and I watched the movie... I definitely did things, even if I didn't do much!! I don't think Jaden is the type of guy who would want a really big crazy party, though, so I think it's okay. I think he would be perfectly content to just spend the whole day snuggling and maybe playing some Duel Monsters together... ♡

...

...Well, there is actually one more thing I can talk about for his birthday, and considering I just watched Bonds Beyond Time it would be a sin for me to not take the opportunity to mention it now. So, um --

These screenshots are already posted on my Jaden Discord Moments TM page, but until now I have never actually gone in depth into what I'm talking about within these images. And that would be ShadyVox's 2017 remake of the Yugioh parody of 'Stronger' by Daft Punk that featured in the Yugioh Abridged version of Bonds Beyond Time.

Yugioh: The Abridged Series (or YGOTAS) was an integral part of early internet culture, and inspired a number of memes and imitators in its wake. It was helmed by LittleKuriboh and focused only on Yugioh Duel Monsters, the original series. Later, another group began their own abridged series for Yugioh GX, and the teams collaborated to abridge Bonds Beyond Time. Now, I have only seen half of YGOTAS, and have seen no part of YGOGXTAS nor the BBT collaboration, but I can tell you one thing about it: Jaden Yuki (voiced by ShadyVox) raps to 'Stronger' with the lyrics replaced with a summary of Bonds Beyond Time. It has the exact energy you would expect of a fandom rap parody from 2011 and it is stupid and glorious and I am fucking obsessed with it. Detrimentally obsessed with this song that is so stupid that I cannot even listen to it with other people around and yet I have it on my MP3 player and talk about it constantly. Is it good? I don't know. I get second-hand embarrassment from some of the lyrics but my God it has wormed its way into my head and lodged itself in there for the last two years. My friends make fun of me for it (and for good reason) but they all listen to it too so I think the only conclusion to draw is that we are all fools, each and every one of us. Anyway, I can think of no more fitting tribute to end Jaden's birthday celebration than to leave you all with the man, the myth, the legend, ShadyVox's Stronger (2017), and a few more choice Discord moments.
